develop gives back

Back to Hub

Once a quarter, we give back to our community.

In September, we launched our first charity day partnering with Thames Reach. Thames Reach help ‘homeless and vulnerable men and women to find decent homes, build supportive relationships and lead fulfilling lives’.

Instead of just raising money, we wanted to use the skills we have as Recruiters to add genuine, lasting value into the homeless community.

To do this, we came up with the idea of running workshops on CV building, job searching, interview preparation and how to be heard in the workplace.

Building your CV

Senior Consultant, Will Youle, kicked the day off in style with a workshop on CV building. He spoke with Thames Reach’s clients on what to include, how to present it, and how to tailor their CV for different roles. Will also gave his email out to all those who attended the session offering one-to-one CV help.

Searching for your next role

Next up was our Head of UK Development, Rob Legg. Rob ran a detailed session on job searching, speaking to Thames Reach clients about the best websites to search for roles and how to follow up on applications if they don’t hear anything back.

How to prepare for an interview

In the afternoon, develop’s Managing Director for Germany (and recruitment veteran), John Norris, presented on preparing for an interview, and questions to ask at the end of an interview whether these are face-to-face or video interviews.

How to be heard

develop’s founders, Joey Tait and Kevin Hammond, ended the day with a workshop on having your voice heard at work, asking tough questions and how to promote yourself effectively.

On top of that, our Operations Manager, Barbara Hudecova prepared care packages for the homeless and distributed these to those living on the streets around our office Tower Hill. The business also donated £10 for every CV sent and interviews booked by our consultants on our charity day.

And the most amazing part of the day was raising £1,800 for Thames Reach via our GoFundMe page.

Here’s a link to Thames Reach – go visit them, they are wonderful people doing brilliant things.

We can’t wait to see what our next charity day has in store!
