* Lead the creation of mechanical design documents and models for parts, assemblies, or finished products using computer-aided design programs.

* Research, develop and design products based on innovative technologies, methods and techniques, from concept through prototype and testing to validation and finally implemented into manufacturing.

* Create detailed product design specifications that will provide instructions and direction to manufacturing so that work instructions and assembly processes can be developed and implemented.

* Coach and help develop the knowledge and skill sets of early career engineers.

* Participate and collaborate in project management.

* Coordinate change requests based on manufacturing issues.

* Lead design for manufacturability and design for serviceability processes and activities to ensure that all products are efficient to manufacture and service.

* Design jigs, guards, and fixtures to aid assembly processes as needed.

* Provide consultation to other teams and resolve problems in the supply chain, manufacturing, or in the field.

* Actively maintain and share knowledge of new technologies, methods, and techniques.

Qualifications & Education:

The ideal candidate for this position should possess the following qualifications and education:

* BSME or equivalent in a related Engineering or Technology degree; or equivalent work experience required. MSME preferred.

* Minimum of 5 years in detailed mechanical part and product design work, including 3D modeling, creating detailed drawings for manufacture and fabrication. 7 year experience preferred.

* 5 years of experience with design and development tools such as Solid Works 3D and AutoCAD 2D.

* Knowledge of and experience with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.

* Knowledge of and experience with measurement equipment, metrology, and incoming inspection reports.

* Ability to design for multiple fabrication and material methods such as injection molding, castings, machined parts, and sheet metal.

* Experienced working independently or in a team environment.

* Strong communication skills via verbal, written, and virtual teams power point presentations. Must be comfortable communicating with all levels of management, external customers, and vendors.

* Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
