Lead Back End Developer - Fully Remote - £120,000 / Tech For Good

I am exclusively working with the UK's only tech-enabled security company who are disrupting the industry with creative thinking and bespoke technology. Founded in 2000 they have grown from start-up/scale-up phase to now an established business with a real purpose and highly profitable business while keeping a very agile way of working.

This is a really exciting opportunity for a Lead Developer to work closely with the CTO to define the back end development practices, continue being hands on with coding and customer facing applications and eventually growing a team of developers around you!

You will have a significant influence on all of the roadmap as well as being a senior figure within the business and the technology department.

They have just won a new exciting Innovate UK project which you will drive leading the business into the Tech4Good market with a brand new product which will utilise IoT devices, perfect for someone with a real passion for Tech4Good and IoT.
They are looking for a seasoned developer with solid Java experience but also someone who is open to expanding with new back end languages / has a breadth of experience potentially as a tech agnostic developer - you'll know the pros and cons of various languages and be able to explain the effectiveness of your chosen language in relation to business requirements

What will you be doing then?

  • Leading (and eventually growing) a new development team, focused on delivering the back end applications for their new greenfield products.
  • Defining the methodology and technical practices to deliver the best possible solutions including the selection of technical stack for their front end products.
  • Architecting the back end applications for their eco system.
  • Continuously identifying new technologies that can improve their tech stack.

What skills will you need?

  • Excellent Java experience with spring frameworks
  • Microservices experience - ideal person would have experience breaking down monolithic platforms
  • A natural curiosity for new technology and ability to translate this into modernising tech stacks
  • Agile background is a must
  • Ideally experience integrating with the Devops side of things too
  • Leadership experience

In return you will have a genuine platform to rapidly career progress within a very successful business driving a unique product in a "unsaturated" market with huge growth potential currently and in the future, lead a team of developers, work remotely with a very flexible company, salary of between £100,000-120,000 and a fantastic benefits package including healthcare, pension and much more!

Interviews will be taking place soon so please apply with your CV asap, 3 stage process that can be done within a week - they're moving quickly!
