My client are a market leading technology organisation who pride themselves on their innovation and contributing development tools that are used globally. As they continue their growth, they are looking for a Chief Accountant to manage an existing team of 5 Accountants, as well as the hands on accountancy work and driving the team work in a more effective and concerted manner.

In this role, you'll:

  • Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department.
  • Monitor and analyse accounting data and produce financial reports and statements.
  • Establish and enforce appropriate accounting methods, policies, and principles.
  • Coordinate and complete statutory reporting and assist with annual audits.
  • Provide recommendations to local and group stakeholders.
  • Improve systems and procedures and initiate corrective actions.
  • Assign projects and direct staff to ensure compliance and accuracy.
  • Establish and maintain fiscal files and records to document transactions.
  • Lead, motivate, and develop a team of accounting professionals to achieve departmental goals and objectives.
  • Provide guidance, support, and mentorship to team members, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Establish clear performance expectations, conduct regular performance evaluations, and provide constructive feedback to team members.
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities effectively, ensuring workload distribution is equitable and deadlines are met.
  • Identify training needs and coordinate training sessions to enhance the skills and capabilities of the Accounting team.
  • Support the group finance team and contribute to the success of global company initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Relevant education in accounting, finance, or other related fields.
  • CPA or equivalent certification.
  • Proven experience in a senior accounting role, with demonstrated leadership and management skills within an international company.
  • Deep knowledge of German GAAP/HGB.
  • Experience with statutory reporting and tax-related matters relevant to bookkeeping.
  • The ability to effectively communicate with various stakeholders.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and leadership skills to organize effective work and communication within the team and other departments.
  • Fluency in both German and English.
