• Solid software engineering background
• Proficient in Python or at least one of the JVM-based languages
• A few good years of experience in large-scale data engineering using open source technologies and cloud service providers like AWS or GCP
• Proficient in SQL and database design, including distributed systems
• Solid experience with large-scale batch processing and stream processing (e.g. Spark, Hadoop, Flink, Storm, Apache Beam, Kafka, Airflow, Oozie etc.)
