My client a specialist loan and mortgage organisation for the use of financial technology are looking for a Head of QA (Lead QA, JavaScript, Selenium, Cucumber) to join their team and help with building out their QA function.

This role requires you to be in the office in Watford 4 days a week and is paying £70k - £80k

As the Head of QA Head of QA (Lead QA, JavaScript, Selenium, Cucumber) you will be heading all aspects of the company's testing effort from designing and developing automation frameworks from scratch, planning, and executing manual tests, mentoring the test team to liaising with the development teams.

Key responsibilities for the Head of QA (Lead QA, JavaScript, Selenium, Cucumber):

  • Take ownership of the QA process (end to end), developing an automation test framework from scratch.
  • Define and implement strategy and architecture for the automated test framework covering the whole process from test planning to results analysis and reporting.
  • Collaborate effectively with Product Owners, Developers, Designers, DevOps Engineers, and the wider business.
  • Remain hands-on, developing automated test cases (unit / integration / regression / stress / GUI) using (preferably) JavaScript and various test automation frameworks & tools.
  • Ability to write scripts for testing RESTful & XML / SOAP APIs, using Postman or similar tools.
  • Create and maintain a suite of test cases in JIRA.
  • Management responsibilities for the QA team.
  • Plan and execute manual tests if / when necessary.
  • Facilitate and offer support to business users regarding UAT activities.

 

Key skills for the Head of QA (Lead QA, JavaScript, Selenium, Cucumber)

  • Experience establishing and developing a QA strategy.
  • Experience developing an automation test framework.
  • Experience working in collaborative Agile (Scrum / Kanban) environment.
  • In depth experience with at least one test automation framework, e.g. Selenium, Cypress, Puppeteer, Playwright.
  • In depth experience with at least one testing tool, e.g. Cucumber / Gherkin.
  • In depth experience testing web based, SaaS applications.
  • Ability to write automated tests, preferably in JavaScript.
  • Team leadership experience.
  • Mentoring skills for less experienced members of the team.
  • Practical experience with JIRA & Confluence.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, independent thinker, with a "can do" mentality.
  • Team player.
  • This is an office-based role, requiring at least 4 days a week in our Watford office.
