Head of Software Engineering- Technical Operations & Change Enablement- Remote- up to £110k

Are you an Experienced Software Engineering Leader who has helped to drive change across multiple Engineering squads and ultimately improved development practices, processes and teams overall performance? If so, this is the role for you!

An exciting SaaS scale up brand we partner with is looking for an Engineering Leader to work across 8 Squads of Engineers to look at the teams data, trends, backlogs, vulnerabilities, bottlenecks, tech and tools, operational performances and help to drive improvements so the teams can deliver better, more robust, scalable solutions, much quicker.

The company have over 50,000 customers around the globe including some household brands and build really exciting and innovative SaaS products.

Responsibilities;

1. Management of day to day operational needs in product development in collaboration with the Technical Leadership Team.
2. Analyse team performance, deliveries and report on the effectiveness of the departments
3. Support and foster Agile ways of working, ensure teams are working smartly
4. Be accountable for the software development tooling, making sure its cost effective and providing ROI
5. Identifying areas that are impacting teams performance and help to resolve
6. Drive technical best practice and cross pollination across teams
7. Help to drive improvements in code quality and test coverage
8. Analysing Engineering trends, reporting back on them and helping to improve
9. Help drive effectiveness and operational excellence across the teams
10. Make tactical changes for the good of the business
11. Speed up delivery across projects
12. Correcting bottlenecks

The Person:

• Preferably somebody that has come from a Software Engineering background that has moved into a technical change, facilitation, enablement type role
• Agile evangelist and ideally Scrum certified
• Passionate about driving improvements, collaboration and speed of delivery
• High level of detail
• Able to administer systems, integrate tooling into the teams workflow
• Experience of Jira and DevOps would be beneficial
• Strong understanding of development best practice, modern engineering, code reviews, CI/CD, Automation testing
• Experience of developing high performing teams
• Pragmatic and proactive
• Ability to build relationships across the team, facilitate workshops and drive change
• Experience working in a fast paced SaaS, Startup/Scaleup brand would be really beneficial.
