As the DBA(Azure & SQL Server), you will work primarily with both on premise Microsoft SQL Server and Azure SQL Database. The role will Intel covering all areas of database administration, from server configuration, backups and integrity checking, through performance monitoring, alerting and tuning, to code reviews, schema design and ownership of the database CI pipeline.
Responsibilities Include:
- Performance Monitoring and Alerting:
- Ensuring that performance thresholds are maintained;
- Creating and maintaining alerting channels for critical issues (slack);
- Backups, High Availability & Integrity checks:

- Ensuring that the backup strategy is implemented and maintained;
- Ensuring that Availability Groups are healthy and performing;
- CI and Code Reviews:
- Own and monitor the CI pipeline for SSDT based deployments;
- Perform code reviews in GIT for database schema and code changes;
- Performance Tuning:
- Provide advice and consultation to the development team to ensure production code is performing accordingly;
- Review indexing strategy and ensure that these are maintained;
- Security:
- Provide and monitor access to data based on a minimum rights best practise;
