Senior UI/Visual Designer | Hybrid working | £50,000-£60,000 per annum benefits

I am working with an award winning online mortgage broker, delivering personalised mortgage recommendations through a hybrid of smart tech and human mortgage experts. They are also backed by a major corporation that own a number of other brands across the world.

With mortgages being one of the remaining financial services to be digitalised, they are looking to transform the market. They are planning to own every part of the process and improve the customer experience from start to finish, empowering confident mortgage decisions for millions of mortgage seekers.

What's the opportunity?

As a Senior Visual Designer, your role is to own the visual direction of our product as it evolves. You will work closely with our user researchers, visual designers, and the wider design and product teams to craft end-to-end journeys that help consumers achieve their goals, while ensuring that high visual standards are maintained and pushed. However, you will be the most senior designer in the Manchester Office and have a chance to grow into a Lead role in the future.

The Role:
  • Taking both a hands on approach to design work as well as providing the creative direction of our product's visual design
  • Collaborating closely with user researchers, the design team, and wider product team to define user experiences that help customers achieve their goals
  • Translating wireframes into impactful visual designs that achieve product goals
  • Owning and continuing to evolve our design system
  • Ensuring visual designs meet accessibility standards
  • Mentoring more junior members of the team and supporting their ongoing development, with the opportunity to progress into a management role
  • Working closely with engineers to understand technical considerations and ensure a high standard of quality is maintained
  • Collaborating with the wider design team to continuously improve our design processes, principles, and toolbox

Skills:

  • You have an advanced understanding of visual design principles with excellent skills in typography, layout, and iconography (illustration and animation skills are an added bonus)
  • You're a strong communicator with the ability to clearly articulate your design decisions and rationale to the wider business
  • You have excellent leadership skills and take full ownership of your work, as well as oversee and influence the work of other visual designers
  • You can give thoughtful feedback in design reviews to the wider design team

They are working on a hybrid model and are doing 2 days a week in their WeWork office. They are doing a 3 stage interview process which can be turned around in 2 working weeks.
