We are currently seeking an experienced Information Governance & Data Protection Specialist for a permanent position with our UK-based client, a central communications service provider. In this role, you will play a vital role in ensuring company-wide data protection and information governance compliance. Leveraging your expertise in information management and data protection, you will contribute to the development and implementation of key Information Management Framework products and artifacts. Your contributions will support policy and process developments, ensuring compliance with data protection obligations as the organization scales its activities.

As an Information Governance & Data Protection Specialist, your responsibilities will include:

  • Reporting to the Head of Information Governance & Data Protection, you will drive the ongoing development of critical information governance initiatives across the business.
  • Key objectives encompass policy and process creation for essential data protection compliance artifacts, oversight of IAR and associated artifacts, roadmap development for the Information Governance framework, drafting and development of relevant policies, collaborating with stakeholders for awareness raising and training, and providing insightful monitoring, metrics, and management information.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Technical Skills:

    • Profound knowledge and practical application of Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA).
    • Proficiency in business planning, roadmap development, and process mapping.
    • Comprehensive understanding of technology and security controls.
    • Document development expertise in crafting Policies, Standards, Procedures, and Guidelines.
  • Soft Skills:

    • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
    • Strong analytical skills for swift decision-making in complex situations.
    • Proficient personal networking skills, gaining trust and confidence quickly.
    • Capability to prioritize tasks and remain composed under pressure.
    • Dedication to continuous improvement, identifying more efficient ways to achieve superior outcomes using available tools and information.
  • Qualifications/Experience:

    • Demonstrable corporate experience applying data protection legislation, ideally within a data-driven environment.
    • Proven experience in designing systems and processes for information governance and data protection compliance.
    • Collaboration experience with cross-disciplinary teams to develop holistic solutions for intricate information challenges.
    • History of collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to develop policies, processes, and toolkits.
    • Background in Information Management or Data Protection roles.
    • Knowledge of information security and experience within an ISO27001 certified environment.
