Embark on an exciting opportunity with our client, a leading European company extending its influence globally. With clients like the Singapore and Hong Kong Police Forces, we're on the lookout for a dedicated individual to fill the role of Embedded Firmware Test Analyst.

Purpose of the Role: As an Embedded Firmware Test Analyst, you'll be instrumental in ensuring the quality and functionality of firmware on our client's hardware products, ranging from body-worn cameras to smart gateways, and their connectivity to software DEMS 360.

Responsibilities:

Firmware Testing:

  • Analyze new firmware requirements and translate them into documented test scenarios and cases.
  • Conduct smoke tests for basic functionality on each new firmware version.
  • Execute full firmware test plans for new features and performance.
  • Perform regression testing to ensure existing functionality remains intact.
  • Log, prioritize, and manage firmware defects using Azure DevOps.
  • Communicate firmware issues to the Engineering team in China.

Firmware Release:

  • Report release readiness of each firmware version to the Product Manager.
  • Provide final QA sign-off for firmware, highlighting any known issues.
  • Assist in preparing firmware release notes.
  • Maintain and update the firmware release matrix.

Hardware Testing:

  • Collaborate with the Production and Engineering teams to ensure the delivery of quality products.
  • Perform User Acceptance Tests on docking stations and smart docks.
  • Set up and configure hardware test environments.
  • Conduct comparative tests between our client and competitor cameras.

Compatibility Testing:

  • Support software development queries related to camera and hardware features.
  • Ensure software compliance with existing and new camera functionality.
  • Perform compatibility testing of camera firmware with relevant software versions.
  • Assist in load and performance testing of new software versions.

Operation Support:

  • Troubleshoot hardware issues reported by clients.
  • Reproduce and document customer-reported firmware issues.
  • Communicate new issues to the Engineering Team in China.
  • Assist the Operations Team with queries around hardware features.

Data Sheets:

  • Measure and collate functional variables for cameras.
  • Create datasheets for reporting updates to the Product Manager.

General:

  • Participate in daily team stand-ups and monthly sprint planning.
  • Provide estimates for test efforts for each new feature.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

Essential:

  • Minimum 3 years' experience as a Firmware Test Analyst.
  • Ability to understand technical specifications.
  • Strong experience in testing firmware/embedded software for consumer electronics.
  • Knowledge of testing software applications.
  • Experience in software testing methodologies and types.
  • Experience in regression testing, functional testing, and user acceptance testing.
  • Experience in reporting build health and maintaining bug backlog.

Desirable:

  • Degree or equivalent in an IT/Engineering discipline.
  • Strong knowledge of electronics, handling PCBs, image processing, and video recording concepts.
