We are currently seeking an Enterprise Cloud Engineer for a permanent role with our UK-based client, an organization operating as a central communications service provider. In this role, you will be a vital member of the Enterprise IT Cloud team, responsible for designing, executing, and delivering AWS and Azure solutions. Your focus will encompass the management of existing Cloud products, ensuring their ongoing monitoring, maintenance, and security.

As a Cloud Engineer, your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating with team members to assess and identify optimal cloud solutions.
  • Serving as a Subject Matter Expert in Cloud Engineering within the Enterprise IT and Cloud Team.
  • Deploying and supporting architecture in cloud-hosted environments.
  • Implementing automation methodologies to translate solution designs into infrastructure as code.
  • Providing clear and concise documentation, including high and low-level designs.
  • Staying informed about new features to offer support and training to both staff and clients.
  • Communicating and managing customer expectations while establishing realistic timeframes.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Proficiency in Compute and Storage technologies (EC2, Lambda, EBS, S3, EFS, AWS Storage Gateway & Workspaces, etc.).
  • Experience with automation tools such as Terraform, Packer, and Ansible.
  • Identity Management expertise for Cloud Services (Azure AD - AWS IAM, AD).
  • Familiarity with Serverless Lambda, CloudFormation, JSON, YAML, and Shell scripts (BASH, Python & PowerShell).
  • Strong understanding of security practices and tools (AWS Security Hub, CloudTrail, Guard Duty, etc.).
  • Proficiency in CloudWatch, Config, CloudTrail, SNS, SES, SQS, Log Aggregation concepts.
  • Networking knowledge, including TCP/IP4/6, DNS, Transit Gateway, VPCs, NACLs, Routing, ELBs, Direct Connect.
  • SC clearance or willingness to undergo such clearance.

Desirable Skills and Experience:

  • Proficiency in Linux shell and automation.
  • Experience with CIS Server hardening.
  • Understanding of 'On Premise Systems' in a cloud environment.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft SQL or AWS RedShift.
  • Windows Server Operating Systems and Windows Automation expertise.
  • Knowledge of Microservices and Docker (advantageous).
  • AWS or Azure certification (desirable).
